Feeling adrift from Irish roots is a common diaspora experience for folks living far from Ireland—especially when it comes to finding an authentic, safe space for Irish Pagan Beliefs and practice.

With so much watered-down ‘Celtic’ content out there, many in the diaspora just want a real community that understands what it means to walk this path without myths or appropriation.

That’s exactly why the Irish Pagan School (IPS) exists.

Founded in County Waterford by native Irish authors Lora O’Brien and Jon O’Sullivan, the Irish Pagan School is built on authenticity, scholarship, and the warmth of Irish hospitality.

Our community welcomes people from all backgrounds and locations—urban and rural, experienced practitioners and curious beginners, diaspora and locals alike.

The core ethos here: respect for Irish culture, language (Gaeilge: ‘GAYL-geh’), and our living spiritual traditions.

What makes the Irish Pagan School community different?

  • Led by real Irish voices: You learn from native practitioners deeply rooted in Irish lore—no tourist spin, no plastic ‘Celtic’ nonsense.
  • Designed for the diaspora, as well as those still on the island: Our living, online spaces reach across oceans—off Facebook and open 24/7—so you’re supported wherever you are in the world.
  • Microlearning and bite-sized practice: Whether you have five minutes or want an immersive journey, we make it easy to connect in ways that fit your busy life.
  • Flexible & inclusive: Self-paced learning, on-demand classes, community Q&As, private forums, and events that suit all time zones.
  • Decolonised and respectful: We actively call out cultural appropriation and prioritise authentic Irish history, language, and practice at every step.

Here’s what real IPS community members have said:

‘‘I finally feel welcomed and understood! Not just taught at, but invited in and encouraged.’’ – Jenna, California

‘‘Your regular emails and online supports have been my port in the storm. Even when money’s tight and life gets tough, I know the Tuath is there for me.’’ – Shauna, diaspora member

Our student surveys each year make it clear that feeling connected—spiritually, culturally, emotionally—to Ireland and each other is core.

Many among our 47k+ registered students will often mention the need for simple daily practices, check-in emails, audio content and short rituals for busy or overwhelmed times.

And each year, we do our very best to improve, upgrade, and serve our communitiy in the way that YOU need us to.

A Simple Spiritual Practice for our diaspora:

If you’re reading this from abroad, as a member of the Irish diaspora or not, here’s one micro practice you can begin, or include, to help you feel more connected to Ireland and out culture.

Each morning, pause and greet the day or those close to you with a simple Gaeilge phrase—‘‘DĂ©ithe dhuit’’ (pronounced ‘DAY-huh gwit’, meaning a simple ‘‘Hello’’, or literally ‘‘Gods be with you’’).

Spend a breath offering thanks for your ancestors and this moment of connection. This tiny act can tether your spirit to Ireland daily.

đŸ‘‰đŸ» Ready to finally feel that you belong?

The Irish Pagan School is here to make the diaspora feel less about distance, and more about genuine belonging—wherever you find yourself today.
